nanya jhingran reads, writes, teaches, and edits poetry, fiction, and critical prose on Coast Salish lands in Seattle, WA.
She was born and raised in Lucknow, India and has lived in Maharashtra’s Mulshi Valley; Portland, Oregon; and Siena, Italy. She is fluent in English, Hindi, and Urdu, and has a working knowledge of Italian and Spanish.
She is tenured faculty in English, Creative Writing, and Humanities at South Seattle College.
She holds an MFA in Poetry and an MA in Literature & Cultural Studies from the University of Washington (Seattle), where she is completing a PhD in Literature and Cultural Studies.
She serves as book reviews and essays editor and organizes the Critics at Large program at Poetry Northwest.
She is the author of the chapbook INTO OUR PERSONAL WEATHER, published by Winter Texts in July 2025.
